From June 30 to July 2, STAA (and our wise Alpaca) joined the ISST community for the INSPIRE 2016 biannual conference in stunning Vienna. The conference was held at the ultra-modern Reed Messe Wien Congress Center, located at Messeplatz 1 in the Second District, Leopoldstadt and delivered on its promise to INSPIRE us. The conference provided STAA with the opportunity to catch up on the latest advances in schema therapy, while enjoying networking and connecting with dear friends and colleagues from around the world. Our STAA team were involved in co-authoring a number of hot topics and symposiums aimed to help participants apply the many aspects of mode work to a wide variety of clients and populations.
We also enjoyed a memorable visit to the Sigmund Freud Museum and a visit to one of Freud’s favourite coffee-houses to enjoy delicious Viennese coffee. In the former living quarters and office of Sigmund Freud in the house at Berggasse 19 in Vienna's ninth district, the Sigmund Freud Museum presented an exhibition documenting the life and work of the founder of psychoanalysis. It is said that Sigmund Freud never really grew to like Vienna, despite living there for eighty years… but we did! STAA enjoyed wandering the streets of Vienna and allowing our Happy Child Modes to play!
We are looking forward to attending the INSPIRE 2018 conference to be hosted in Washington DC … onward!
