The amazing Wendy Behary and Joan Farrell present the Schema Therapy Online Membership Community!9/7/2019
I hope everyone had a lovely holiday season and your New Year is going well so far or will be if you are celebrating Chinese New Year! I have updated the workshop page. This year the amazing Joan Farrell and Ida Shaw are returning to Australia in May to present in the beautiful Byron Bay. We are very lucky to have them come back one more time!
I will not be offering any certification training workshops this year, but I am available to run any of the modules for teams and organisations if requested. Please contact me directly if you would like me to do so. I am also available for supervision. My koalas are keeping me very busy and this is in part why I am reducing my workload in 2019. Our South Australian koalas are not doing well at all and are a sickly population. Many die from renal failure, mange and chlamydia. In addition, due to deforestation they now live in our suburbs and this puts them at risk of dog attacks and being hit by cars. To help conserve our koalas and other species, including possums, echidnas, quolls and so on, we are starting a new wildlife charitable organisation here in Adelaide called Save Our Wildlife Foundation Inc and will be looking for members in the new financial year. In the meantime, please visit our website (it is still under construction) if you are interested to know more. Here is a picture of Guy, a lovely juvenile male I had in care that was hit by a car and lucky to escape with minor injuries. He recovered well and has since been returned to his suburb and is staying out of trouble for now! I hope the New Year has started well for you all! I have updated the workshop page with new certification workshops and will be adding some specialised schema therapy workshops once details and dates are confirmed. I will also be attending the Amsterdam ISST Conference in May and I am really looking forward to sharing all my learning with you in the second half of the year.
Thank you all so much for your continuing support of STAA and Schema Therapy. I remain very committed to progressing this wonderful model and the theory that underpins it here in Australia. I look forward to seeing and working with you this year :) On a more personal note, I am incredibly blessed to rescue and care for our sick and injured Koalas and ask all of you that live in close proximity to these amazing animals to remember to leave out water for them in this summer heat and slow down on the roads as they cross! I was very fortunate to be able to attend the International Society of Schema Therapy Summer School in Barcelona earlier this month. Not only was I able to participate in some amazing workshops, including couples therapy and imagery rescripting, I was privileged enough to talk to and experience training with Jeff Young, the founder of Schema Therapy. Jeff demonstrated training with Jeff Conway, his New York colleague and a fantastic Schema Therapist in his own right.
I learnt so much over the three days and I am excited to share these teachings with you in the remaining STAA workshops being offered this year. I am also really looking forward to having Joan Farrell, PhD present a workshop with me in November - Interventions to Overcome Common Obstacles in Treating Personality Disorder. After visiting three times previously, this will very likely be the last time Joan and her partner Ida Shaw, MA will be travelling to Australia. They are both world renowned and highly innovative Schema Therapy trainers and are not to be missed!
