Adapting Schema Therapy when Working with Clients under the Medicare Model
This 3-hour workshop is designed to provide a brief overview of Schema Therapy theory and the conceptual model, whilst identifying how it can work in the current economic climate. We will spend some time looking at the importance of the client-therapist relationship and provide you with opportunities to practice some of the more easily transferable cognitive, experiential/emotion focused and behavioural techniques that are traditionally associated with the model. Having some prior knowledge of Schema Therapy will be helpful, but not essential.
Nicola Kenney, Clinical Social Worker and Advanced Certified Schema Therapist, will present this workshop in conjunction with the STAA team. Nicola works in her own private practice, utilising Schema Therapy primarily with clients who have Mental Health Care Plans. PRICE (GST Included): Early Bird Registration: Standard Registration:

An Introduction to Applying Schema Therapy with Individuals on the Autism Spectrum
This 3-hour workshop introduces Schema Therapy as a therapeutic approach to treating complex comorbidities in adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). We will suggest methods of harnessing interests and individual learning style to facilitate mode work, creating a shared language, and focusing on meeting needs rather than “fixing” ASD. We also propose an extension to the original Schema Therapy conceptual model to incorporate both schema driven behaviours and ASD driven behaviours, with the aim of building the “Healthy ASD Adult Mode” to meet both the emotional and ASD-specific needs of the “Happy ASD Child Mode”. Having some prior knowledge of ASD and/or Schema Therapy will be helpful, but is not essential.
Dr. Erin Bulluss, Clinical Psychologist and Advanced Certified Schema Therapist, will present this workshop in conjunction with the STAA team.. Erin completed a PhD thesis on intervention for ASD and has been working clinically in the area for almost 15 years. She co-presented with Ida Shaw on Schema Therapy with ASD at the recent ISST conference in Vienna. PRICE (GST Included): Early Bird Registration: Standard Registration:

Masterclass for Working Therapeutically with Narcissists
Narcissistic clients are notoriously difficult. The complexities of these clients can arouse our curiosity, but treating them can arouse our sense of inadequacy. This live webinar, which will take place over two consecutive mornings, will help you establish a sturdier foothold for empathically holding narcissistic clients accountable and setting necessary limits. You will acquire a working understanding of schema therapy as applied to narcissism in order to help you understand your client’s life themes, as well as your own, and how these themes interact in therapy. By gaining a firmer grasp on your own schemas and a better understanding of the narcissistic client’s makeup, you can overcome obstacles in treating narcissism and maintain the necessary leverage for healing.
Wendy Behary is the founder and director of The Cognitive Therapy Center of New Jersey and The New Jersey Institute for Schema Therapy. She has been treating clients, training professionals and supervising psychotherapists for more than twenty years. Wendy has co-authored several chapters and articles on Schema Therapy and Cognitive Therapy. She is the author of "Disarming the Narcissist...” (New Harbinger, 2013) translated in 10 languages. She has a specialty in treating narcissists and supporting those around them, She lectures both nationally and internationally to professional and general audiences on schema therapy, and the subject of narcissism, interpersonal relationships, anger, and dealing with difficult people.
